On Air to Discuss Trump and Greenland
Speaking on MS NOW about why Trump's idea isn’t just dumb — it’s dangerous.
Only last week, I wrote that invading Greenland would be President Donald Trump’s worst idea ever (you can read more on that here).
But it goes further than that. An invasion of Greenland would be the worst foreign policy decision in the history of the United States.
It would shatter NATO, empower autocrats like Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin, and inflict lasting damage on America’s standing with its allies.
I appeared on MS Now’s Morning Joe to discuss just how damaging this would be (see below).
A few days earlier, I went into more detail about Trump’s claims that the U.S. needs Greenland for national security during an appearance on MS Now’s Alex Witt Reports (see below).
You hit the nail on the head with your statement. Thank you for the clarity and sharpness of your message Ambassador McFaul.
At great risk to yourself and family, but because your love for this country and defending it, is paramount, you have spoken out loud what a leadership that is in power ie Congress must stand up for! but seems to weak to do.
He is acting like a spoiled brat… he wants, he wants , and he expects to get what he wants… sacrificing, and endangering the Peace and Security of NATO, and the World. Those “leaders” in Congress must Stop him now! This is not a tv game show, this is an actual action to benefit himself. His mind is so warped…and he is being manipulated by his own people at the WH.

…is this clear enough to warrant immediate intervention by a person or persons who has/have been in contact with, shall we call him the “victim”?!

Thank you for the very direct criticism of Trump's foreign policy! We can have as many troops in Greenland as we would like, and you're absolutely correct it's an idiotic vanity project that will harm our standing in the world! This segment was refreshing to hear after listening to your Stanford colleagues, the Goodfellows, treat Trump with kids gloves and ascribe to him some sublime strategic thinking capabilities that clearly don't exist.
