Dear Substack readers,
First, thank you to everyone who joined the live Q&A Zoom session two weeks ago (a paid feature). It was fantastic chatting with you all! Keep an eye out for the next one. More details to come soon.
Second, here on Substack, I want to experiment with different mediums. So, today, I am presenting you with a podcast! As most of you know by now, in September 2023, together with political philosopher Francis Fukuyama, I traveled to Kyiv to participate in the Yalta European Strategy conference. We met with policymakers and military experts from Ukraine, Europe, and beyond; Ukrainian alumni of fellowship and development programs from the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (the institute I direct at Stanford); and even President Zelenskyy himself. On World Class, we recap what stood out to us from the trip, what we learned, and the stories from everyday Ukrainians that have stuck with us. Give it a listen below.
Or you can also find it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or the FSI website.
Excellent and candid insights about how Ukrainians are thinking based on first hand conversations in the country.
Perfect timing. I was looking for a podcast as I head out the door and there you are!
The YES conference was riveting, even if I found it a week late. Even so, I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone.
