Reminder: Q+A on Substack Live, Friday, 27 February (11am PST / 2pm EST)
Join me for a discussion as we mark four years of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine
A reminder that I’ll be hosting a Substack Live on Friday, 27 February at 11am PST / 2pm EST to discuss where we are in this war—and where we may be heading next.
I’m putting out an early call for paid subscribers to submit questions in the comments below. If there’s something you’ve been wanting to ask, please leave it there. I can already see that some excellent questions have come in.
I’ll answer as many as I can during the live discussion, and I’ll also try to reserve time to take questions live from the audience on the day.
I hope to see you there!

When is Zelinsky most likely to proceed with an election, i.e., when a real ceasefire is in place? Is pressure from Trump affecting his plans? Appears to me that Trump is not focused on Ukraine (EU's problem), and not putting real pressure on Putin to stop bombardments. So where does the situation go from here? Will the US midterm elections seriously affect the future for Ukraine in 2026-2027?
Are oligarchs in the U.S.A. seizing power the same way that oligarchs in Russia did? Are there significant differences that might make it possible for us to avoid total plutocracy (if we are not there already, which is, sadly, at least debatable)?
