McFaul writes... "But if that is not enough, Speaker Johnson could add a popular sweetener – seizing Russian assets currently frozen in the United States."
Why wasn't that done 2 years ago??? I just don't get it. Please explain, thanks!
We're giving Ukraine money added to the national debt, when we could be giving Ukraine Russia's money? Something seems very wrong here.
Now, we see that Speaker Johnson has the conscience to realize that unless he did the right thing, he would go down in history as the man who allowed Ukraine to fall. And that, plus the Iranian rocket attack on Israel, swayed him to make the right decision.
Thank you for your participation in the excellent docuseries “ Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War “ released last month on Netflix and directed by Brian Knappenberger: https://www.netflix.com/title/81614129
AND.. thank you for another excellent Substack post covering this dreadful aggression by Putin and our imperative response with other NATO members. After convincing Ukraine to relinquish its nuclear arsenal with promises in the Budapest Memorandum that we – US, Russia, UK – would protect Ukraine, Russia once again fails to keep its word. Shame Shame
A Johnson work-around, if that's even possible, must be forced. Tomorrow he heads to Mar-a-Lago to pay homage to a felonious has-been president. The millions of Americans who know what's at stake, as you painstakingly have described, need to make their collective voices heard. Democracy as we know it is at stake. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-speaker-mike-johnson-deliver-remarks-trump-election-integrity-rcna147237
The discharge petition is creeping along (up to 194 as of today), but there aren't many Republicans left in the House who still have a spine. There are plenty from the "Traitor Caucus," however. https://clerk.house.gov/DischargePetition/2024031209?CongressNum=118
Discharge Petition MUST be used as R’s are THE MOSCOW CAUCUS!
Hoping a few republicans simply quit over this.
Thank you.
