CBS reported tonight that President Trump told reporters his administration will send more defensive weapons to Ukraine.
"We're going to send some more weapons. We have to. They have to be able to defend themselves," Mr. Trump told reporters during a White House event with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night (July 7)."
According to CBS, "The President said the shipments will consist of "defensive weapons, primarily," saying Ukraine is "getting hit very hard" and "so many people are dying in that mess."
This is good news, but I'll believe it when I see it. President Trump changes positions about as often as most people change their shirts.
I don't often agree with John Bolton, but I believe he was on to something when he observed at Aspen last week that, "Trump doesn't follow strategy or policy. What he does is always up in the air. His decisions are like a vast archipelago of dots. You can try and draw lines between them. He can't."
At heart, Trump is someone who is driven by instinct and base urges. Unfortunately, Trump's greed and his admiration for dictators will inevitably lead him back to Putin. Ukrainians know this, as does Trump's captive Republican base.
Those of us who continue to support Ukraine can remain hopeful that the President will see reason, but we should recognize as well that what Trump says and what he does are often two different things. We are going to have to find other ways to help Ukraine win.
PUTRUMPIN will destroy Ukraine. We must remove Trump from the White House along with his coterie of sociopaths. Any suggestions about how to get that done?
If we are to save ourselves, we must think and act outside the box.
An Emeritus psychiatrist with 40 years in practice has determined Trump is a psychopath—like Hitler.
Forensic psychiatrist and editor of the series of books that began in 2017 with “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump,” Dr. Bandy X Lee, in an article comparing Trump and Hitler, extensively quotes the professor. Dr.,Lee warns that we and the world are being led into a “death spiral.”
Mass murderer Trump has killed a minimum of 500, 000 Americans during COVID—19, using lies and fake cures like bleach; 200,000 and counting African children and families by removing shipments of medications and food through Trump/Musk destruction of USAID; the probable deaths of the 200 immigrants sent to El Salvador and more intended for war-torn, starving South Sudan and other non-viable regions.
Three news organizations have said “most” or 75-80% of the immigrants in El Salvador are “Not Guilty” of any crimes: PBS’s “ Frontline,” “The New York Times,” and CBS. Trump thus continues to enlarge the “death spiral” that so concerns Dr. Lee. I recommend her podcasts and articles to all concerned.
We must find the way outside the box to remove Trump and his sociopathic Cabinet. Treason and cheating in 2024 are the most likely charges, I suspect, given his and Tulsi Gabbard, Marko Rubio, Lindsay Graham, Mitch McConnell and other senator’s in receipt of millions from Putin through Russian-funded Super PACS and money laundering, starting on or before 2015.*
It’s time to charge, arrest, and try the whole rotten bunch. We have been engaged in a 50+ year hybrid war with PUTRUMPIN at its heart.
Sincerely,
Terry L. Barber

I was unable to finish Nance’s last book—“They Want to Kill Us”—but I know its title fits the goals of Trump et al, given the recent construction of “Alligator Alcatraz.”
This piece can be seen as the author's further attempt to persuade President Trump, who clearly has a strong grasp of American public opinion, but it remains uncertain how he will prioritize the fate of Ukrainian. In any case, unilaterally halting military aid to Ukraine—despite the will of Congress—is, by any historical standard, extraordinary in American politics.
The author’s mention of a “drama-free NATO summit” is also somewhat amusing.
Trump has damaged relationships with allies that are close to being beyond repair which certainly doesn’t help matters. Everyone who used to rely on the US has to now become self reliant because of Trump. Trump wouldn’t be any dumber if his head was cut off!
You wrote "Trump did not help matters when he said there were multiple definitions to Article Five – the section of the NATO treaty that says an attack on one is an attack on all". But Article 5 goes on to say that each Party decides for itself what action to take.
Well, apparently Trump agrees with you. It appears that DoD did not properly coordinate such policy with the White House -- or at least, that is what is being said. In any case, the supplies will continue -- for now.
However, the problem of deficient US munitions' supply is not one that is going to go away ... "We cannot continue to send munitions to Israel, Ukraine, and other places without a negative effect on our own interests. Frederick the Great once said that when you defend everything, you defend nothing. With U.S. attention fixated on supplying Ukraine with munitions needed for its war with Russia, and a probable continuation of violence in the Middle East, the U.S. risks being drawn into fights in three regions at the same time. This will be more than the U.S. can manage with its current munitions stores." (from article below)
The fact is that US weapons stockpiles have significantly decreased due to transfers to Ukraine and other partners, as well as the need to replenish depleted stocks. For example, the US only has 25% of the Patriot missile interceptors needed for its military plans. Additionally, procurement of items like Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) and Small Diameter Bombs has been low, with only around 3,000 and 2,000 purchased in fiscal year 2022, respectively according to procurement documents.
Here is an interesting article on the issue and what needs to be done:
