Spot on!! I hope you can disseminate this very important information to the world via mainstream TV news asap. Both MSNBC AND CNN need to give you some serious airtime. The world needs to hear you 📺 📡
Thanks for this essay. Please broadcast far and wide the dangers of this parlor game and unnecessary/unhelpful predictions and bets these players make on the Ukraine counteroffensive. I'm not sure how many of them look at the broader context you discuss, but here's to hoping more will soon.
McFaul writes, "Tragically, there are likely to be many counteroffensives going forward, not just one now."
Indeed. And so the killing of Ukrainian soldiers, Russian conscripts, and civilians will continue, with no end in sight. The part of Ukraine that we are hoping to liberate will be demolished in the process. And as the killing goes on and on and on, voters in Western countries will start looking for an excuse to disengage.
Playing the patient long game makes sense if the battlefield is the Russian economy. It doesn't make sense if the battlefield is armed conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
Putin has the ultimate tactical weapon in his arsenal a low yield nuclear weapon. If used the weapon would bring maximum destruction to a city but would be controlled in its release of downwind radiation. Will Putin use the weapon of mass destruction when he realizes that he is losing the conflict and he may lose his job and his life. No one know what Putin will do except Putin. What will be the US response or NATO's if he were to unleased the weapon?
I'm a Hoover Institution supporter and have been since March 2022. On the recent "Good Fellows" their guest was another of "voices" [and more of course] Victor Davis Hanson. The subject was Russia's Invasion of Ukraine and Victor was of one opinion and H.R. McMaster with a more solid opinion in my experience. BUT my afterthought is "What weight does such opinions have against the NATO stance given that of its 31 National Members there have voted "in favor" by 31 of their parliaments and/or their governing bodies?" In effect the One Billion populating those 31 NATO Members are being protected by NATO's present total support of Ukraine's sovereign independence, its right of self-defence and right of territorial integrity, as expressed by materials etc costing billions of euros [to good effect]. It is for Ukraine to fight against Russia's Putin's Second Invasion; and it is NATO's right to give all necessary support for Ukraine's self-defence now and ongoing until every Russian "soldier" leaves Ukraine in a means which would not encourage the Russian Peoples to back Putin's ongoing illegal slaughter of Ukrainian Civilians [ men, women and children!!
In short the decisions being made by Ukraine's leadership are theirs and final. Outside opinions such as first referenced above at "Good Fellows" are not only late but meaningless for lack of relevance.
Great summary of the current situation and the need to continue support of Ukraine.

An outstanding analysis of the current events.Ukraine will win!
This is happening Sunday in Vilnius. The Biden Admin. can probably keep the lid on for now, but NATO's eastern flank is going to want concessions.

An important, if obvious statement of truths that needed to be said. Bravo!

*** Putin’s army failed to capture Kyiv in what was supposed to be a 48-hour Blitzkrieg ***
Supposed by whom? I don't remember any Russian official promising a 48-hour Blitzkrieg.
